Pastor Clifford SimsClifford H. Sims, DMin
ASSOCIATE PASTOR

Cliff Sims was born on June 21, 1959 in Moline, Illinois. He was raised in a large family with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. His parents were both saved (though not grounded in the Word of God) so as he was growing up there were numerous attempts to get the family in "church".

It was at the age of eleven that Cliff's own mother led him to the Lord. Shortly after his salvation, the Lord providentially sent a Baptist preacher into the neighborhood going door to door. The Sims family began regular attendance at Victory Baptist Church. It was there that Cliff was baptized and began to grow in the Lord. He began attending a Christian School and this continued through high school.

At the age of 17, he was called into the ministry. Following his Pastor's counsel, he went away to Bible College soon after high school graduation. While in training, he met his wife, Beth, and they were married in May of 1981.

Soon after marriage, Cliff and Beth moved to Atchison, Kansas to plant a church. They were sent out under the authority of Bible Baptist Temple, St. Joseph, Missouri. It was in the fall of 1981 that services were begun in a small storefront. Being in a small heavily Catholic community, growth of the mission work was slow but steady. In September of 1984, Cornerstone Baptist Church was organized as an autonomous body. The church continued to meet in a storefront for five years. During that time, money was raised to purchase property and construct a building as a permanent location for the ministry.

Cliff pastored in Atchison for over 23 years. During that time the church operated a Christian school and a Bible Institute. Several hundred people were saved and thousands of dollars were given to missions.

Over the years the Sims family expanded with four children being added: Andrew, Rebekah, Rachel and Sarah. Today, three of the children are married, each serving the Lord with their own family. Cliff and Beth are blessed to have 10 grandchildren.

It was in the fall of 2004 that the Lord made very clear that it was time for a new direction in ministry. The Lord led the Sims family to E.B.T. As part of the transition, Cliff and Beth owned and operated a small business in Sioux Falls for four years.

Today, Cliff is full time on the staff of E.B.T. One of his primary duties is as Administrator of Empire Baptist Academy. He also does chaplain work with the prison system and law enforcement.

Cliff has continued his formal education over the years and earned his Doctorate of Ministries degree from Great Plains Baptist Divinity School in 2009.
