WHY IS THIS?

In recent years I've become more and more alarmed at the sermons and articles arguing positions, doctrines, etc. which seem more and more to be arguments from some reason, logic, tradition, custom, etc. and not from the scriptures. And when the scriptures are given often the verses do not prove the point made - except, perhaps to the spokesman, or a camp.

Where are the great sermons and articles which when dealing with great issues were an expositional treatise or thesis on the subject? Those arguing issues or points of issues gave research and expositional depth to their arguments wherein one could reason by comparing scripture with scripture along with them. Today much arguing for positions is done outside of God's Word and from shallow quoting of often in-applicable verses. Much is defined by reason and custom with scripture "references" added but not studied, not "hollowed" as the foundation for the chosen position. The foundation actually comes of the custom, tradition, logic of the man, the camp, the school, etc. and not directly of the Word of God. Nor is God's Word offered and used as the direct and sure foundation.

I'm thinking that this is partly why we see so many "fundamentalist" views, positions, etc. today. The Bible does not teach several views, nor back several positions. There is room for several personality applications and methods, but there is a difference in personality method, and divine doctrine and practice.

The great need for today seems to be a revival of proving ourselves by thoroughly expositing our subjects and giving our research as the proof of our position, application, etc. then cause our audience to follow the Word of God by such means rather than presenting positions as divine only on the strength of a tradition or customary reason. A church led by accurate Biblical exposition will be one faithful to the Lord, one led by human reason, personal rhetoric, charismatic oratory, or other such will only be faithful temporarily to the orator (speaker), a camp, movement, etc.

I wonder just how many professing Christians in the "fundamentalist," or Fundamental Baptist, or Independent Baptist groups/camps are built upon the Holy Scriptures and not on this other??
