Pastors are gifted, then "built" not born. (They are born "lost," unless born again as pastors.) Having been Pastor over a Bible college since 1977 and having personally trained many preachers, it is my opinion that pastors (shepherds) are built, not born. The shepherd is a gift. We are told in Ephesians 4 "He gave gifts to men"...to some He gave...pastors and teachers."

Pastors are built under shouldering a people who the Lord has set upon them. Many preachers and students for the ministry need to work among the people or a people after the Lord has put His call and gift in Him. In this, the Lord reveals through association the "people affection" that is a must for the shepherd for his flock. "Hired" shepherds are not recommended by the Lord. (John 10)

Hence, true shepherds are built under carrying a people upon their hearts. True love grows of this, as true love grows into marriage.
